Pattern Draping
Draping I: Basic

This is an introduction to the art of draping. Each student works on a dress form to learn the techniques of designing with fabric. The student learns dart placements and movements of style lines, and how to create a design around the body shape. The course also gives the student a chance to understand and solve basic fitting problems. This is a complementary class to Pattern Making I.

DRAPING II: Intermediate

Duration: 4 weeks
A continuation of Draping I, working with skirts. Students will take the pattern from the draped muslin, turn it into a flat pattern, and then cut and sew it in fashion fabric.

A continuation of Draping II, working with collars and jackets.

Draping 2.0: Experimental Draping
This series offers more depth and insight into the makings of a gown or draped garment. Each section builds on skills learned culminating in students designing a draped garment.
Prerequisites: Draping 1,2,3.
Pattern Draping 2.1: Bias

Duration: 4 weeks A practicum of couture-level draping techniques. Students will explore draping on the bias to create draped necklines and hoods.
